{"id":1294,"date":"2024-03-01T19:07:34","date_gmt":"2024-03-01T18:07:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/imdex.fr\/catalogue-formations\/welcoming-disabled-patients-tips-and-tricks\/"},"modified":"2024-03-01T19:07:34","modified_gmt":"2024-03-01T18:07:34","slug":"welcoming-disabled-patients-tips-and-tricks","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/imdex.fr\/en\/catalogue-formations\/welcoming-disabled-patients-tips-and-tricks\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcoming disabled patients: Tips and tricks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Welcoming a different, unusual patient into your practice is no easy task.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Practitioners unfamiliar with this type of reception are bound to have a moment of doubt and hesitation when faced with the situation. &#8220;I don&#8217;t have the know-how&#8221;. &#8220;I&#8217;ll never be able to do it&#8221;. &#8220;It&#8217;s not for me&#8221;&#8230; These are the first words that pop into our heads when we&#8217;re confronted with a situation that isn&#8217;t &#8220;normal&#8221;, not &#8220;the way we learned in college&#8221;.      <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The aim of this training course is to make the reception of disabled patients less dramatic, and to give practitioners the keys to reassuring themselves and forging a bond of trust with the patient that will enable them to receive care.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through this training course, we hope to pass on all the tips and tricks we&#8217;ve been able to put in place to achieve our goals in caring for our patients living with disabilities. These techniques have been tried and tested for over 15 years. Our patients and their caregivers (natural or professional) are delighted with the dignity and respect with which they are treated.    <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Know how to organize a follow-up, carry out at least one examination, a scaling or a simple treatment, and know how to refer to a specialized structure when necessary. That&#8217;s the aim of this training course. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These items include adapted language, the caregiver&#8217;s place in care, and techniques designed to facilitate care&#8230; 34 items will be described and developed.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For each situation requiring a particular tool, the tool will be made available to participants to help them better understand how to use it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This training, adapted for dentists, can also be taken by doctors or nurses wishing to develop their skills.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Training objectives<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Be able to adapt to all patient profiles<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Be able to adapt to all care situations<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Detailed program &#8211; 7 hours<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 &#8211; Welcoming people into the practice: positive language, miroring<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 &#8211; The waiting room: different sounds, smells and lights<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3 &#8211; Entering the practice of the person living with a disability: adapting language if necessary, the low position<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4 &#8211; Presentation of the techniques needed to establish contact with disabled people and their carers<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5 &#8211; Patient positioning: various adaptations (stretcher, tumble form, laloo, wrap&#8230;)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6 &#8211; Presentation of techniques for building patient confidence: hypnotic language, non-verbal language, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7 &#8211; Presentation of techniques for performing care, opening and holding the patient in the care position<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the spatula, the stopper, the wedges, the isolite<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">8 &#8211; Presentation of techniques enabling patients to make progress in their oral sphere outside the office (daily hygiene, reduction of drooling, eating, chewing using adapted mouthpiece systems to work on the musculature), in collaboration with the speech therapist and oral physiotherapist.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">9 &#8211; The importance of 4-handed care (trained assistant and practitioner)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">10 &#8211; MEOPA and premedication, indication and use. Using the mask as a hypnotic object <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">11 &#8211; End of treatment, sheet removed (if necessary), MEOPA stopped and mask held in hypnotic position, chair returned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">12 &#8211; Thank the patient for his efforts and those accompanying him, and reward him with a medal if necessary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">13 &#8211; Return to reception, where the secretarial staff check on the patient&#8217;s well-being and take the necessary steps for further treatment or prosthesis if required.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Accessibility<\/h2>\n<p>This course can be adapted on request for people with disabilities.
