Oral hygiene in ESMS – 7 hours
The aim of this training course is to acquire skills in hygiene and oral care in specialized establishments: the emphasis will be on dental health, diet and appropriate brushing. We will provide keys to dental follow-up: how to deal with a complaint or a dental problem, and how to adopt the right reflexes (emergency management, etc.) – Groups of up to 12 people.
Tooth brushing is crucial throughout life, and in institutions it should be as important as at home, as it contributes to overall health by preventing cavities, infections and gum disease.
Poor oral hygiene can aggravate existing health problems, such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes. In addition, healthy, well-preserved teeth promote better nutrition and thus contribute to the proper assimilation of nutrients from the diet. Regular brushing can also reduce the risk of respiratory infections, which are common among people living with disabilities.
What’s more, good oral hygiene can contribute to a better quality of life by boosting self-confidence and psychological well-being.
It is important to train nursing staff in techniques for maintaining proper oral hygiene and enabling appropriate care.
Educational programs on the importance of tooth brushing can raise awareness among residents and their families, encouraging good oral hygiene practices.
In short, tooth brushing in nursing homes is essential to maintaining residents’ overall health, well-being and quality of life.
To achieve this, it is essential to understand the “why” in order to implement the “how” and the appropriate care and monitoring protocols.
